Can you believe it's already the end of April?! As the saying goes, it's time for those post-shower May flowers, and hopefully some warm and sunny days - perfect to enjoy the whole new slough of fun class offerings for the upcoming weeks! Be sure to check out the following NEW schedule and make your class reservations ASAP. Sewing, painting, and KID'S classes are now at Diggin' It. Don't miss out!

Frozen Fruit and Herb Desserts
Saturday May 7th, 11:00am-12:30pm
Class Fee: $15/1 person or $25/2
A Mother's Day treat! Blend and sample frozen treats made with fresh herbs from Diggin' It and fresh fruits. A Mother's Day outing for the special person in your life because desserts are best whenever made  - and shared! - with someone we love. Come out for great food, and great company. As an added bonus, class participants will be entered to win Mother/Daughter aprons! Taught by Christine Lindsay.

Paint a Pot to Plant
Saturday May 14th, 11:00am-12:30pm
Class Fee: $25
Come over to the garden patch at Diggin' It and learn to paint terra cotta pots to gussie up your garden and add some color to your life! This is a free-style class taught by Teresa Smith that will help you unleash your creativity. Join in the fun and take your work of art home with you! All levels of skill are welcome, although adults only please. All materials will be provided, along with refreshments of iced tea & cupcakes. Yum!

English Trough Pots
Saturday May 21st, 10:00am-12:00pm
Class Fee: $40
In this class Fredda Perkins will teach you to mix and form the materials needed to create your own trough. You will then take the trough home to cure and harden with instructions. This is a fun and creative process but also messy, so dress accordingly. All materials are provided.

McKinney Paint & Party!
Thursday May 26th, 6:30pm
Class Fee: $30
Take a night off with friends, add a little music and wine, and release your inner artist! This is for fun and to help you explore something you may have always wanted to try, but have never had the chance! All art materials will be provided as well as step by step instructions to help you create an original painting that you will take home with you at the end of the evening. Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting paint on. BYOB! We will have a cooler and glasses available. You can arrive at 6:30 and share a beverage with friends before we begin painting at 7:00. Limited number of spaces available, so register early! Get to know that inner artist within that may have been hibernating since the days of kindergarten and crayons.

Grilling for One Again
Saturday May 28th, 11:00am-12:30pm
Class Fee: $15
Reintroduce yourself to skill on the grill. We will be grilling homestyle pizza, open-faced sandwiches and fruit kabobs using herbs from Diggin' It, veggies, different cheeses and fruit. Learn to make a great sampling of fun summer food for yourself or a party!

Beth DiGioia became a Collin County Master Gardener in 2002. She enjoyed learning so much that she went back and got her degree in Horticulture, specializing in landscape design. Beth lives and gardens in Fairview with her husband and border collie.

Nordstrom's Tricky Hem
Saturday June 11, 10:00am-11:00am
Class Fee: $5
Learn to hem jeans or machine stitched slacks the professional way. Measure your desired pant lengths at home, bring them to the Diggin' It class and discover the technique that will keep you from wearing pants that are too long. No more wet, dirty and down-trodden pant legs for you! Christine Lindsay will teach you to hem them by hand but this method can translate to the sewing machine if you know how to use one. Work those jeans! 

Diggin' Painting
Sessions Daily June 13th - June 17th, 9:30am-12:00pm 
Class Fee: $140
It's time for summer camp - summer ART camp! This series of 5 daily classes taught by Kathryn Waite for ages 6 and up will introduce students to all of the fundamentals of the world of painting - stretching a canvas, mixing colors, applying paint, etc. We will explore various techniques in both watercolor and acrylic mediums. Students will be able to paint from any photo references they bring along or from their own imagination. A great way to spend a summer week!
  
Susannah Charleson Book SigningSusannah Charleson & Puzzle
Saturday June 18th, 2:00pm-4:00pm
Come out to meet an important and personal voice in the search and rescue field! Susannah Charleson will be holding a signing at Diggin' It for her first book, Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search and Rescue Dog. A McKinney local, Charleson is a flight instructor and canine search-and-rescue team member as well as a writer since her first publication in 1981. Scent of the Missing, published in 2010, chronicles the story of Charleson and her canine search partner, a Golden Retriever rightfully named Puzzle. The book reveals the ins and outs of their relationship together as Charleson raises Puzzle and the two work together in the search field. The book was critically well-received and has appeared on the New York TimesDallas Morning News, and Amazon Bestseller lists. For more information on Charleson and Puzzle, you can visit Charleson's website, source for this info and picture of Charleson and Puzzle.

What the Heckie, It's Kid's Home Eckie!
Sessions Daily June 20th - June 24th, 10:00am-12:00pm
Class Fee: $100*
In this weeklong series of 5 daily classes, returning Diggin' It guru Christine Lindsay will be teaching kids the skills of home economics! Kids will learn the fundamentals of nutrition, cooking, and sewing and will even have the opportunity to make their own clothing: an apron for girls, or a toolbelt for boys. Let your child learn the skills of life while their imaginations run wild this summer!

Roasted Salsa & Guacamole
Saturday June 25th, 12:00pm-1:00pm
Class Fee: $10 
Looking for a few new recipes to jazz things up a bit? If so, this could be a class for you! Wesley Mendoza will show you how to make several different salsas and a guacamole that will make you salsa for real! Samples and recipes included. 

Diggin' Sculpture
Sessions Daily July 11th - July 15th, 9:30am-12:00pm
Class Fee: $140
Another series of art classes taught by Kathryn Waite, this time introducing students to the fundamentals of art in three dimensions! Students will use papier mache as their main sculpting medium as they work on projects to develop their understanding of three-dimensional visualization. Using armatures, wire, paper, and other recyclable materials, students will be able to translate their ideas and drawings into 3-D works of art. Those who are interested can begin to collect found objects NOW to recycle into art during this class! Ages 6 and up.
